How to Spice Up a New Kitchen

Let’s mosey on to our New Orleans house to show you how we dabified the kitchen with some help from my faves, Delta Faucet. There are so many reasons to love a new build home, however, they can often be lacking in the personality department. This was especially the case in my kitchen. Sometimes, the new needs a little bit of the old sprinkled in.

When we moved in, the kitchen was all white and it didn’t feel like me but it was the perfect canvas to make it personal. So I decided to change up some things without having to renovate. The plan is to switch up the paint and fixtures. It’s pretty incredible what a transformation these things alone can make. In fact, it’s a great option for anyone who can’t budget for remodeling but still wants a whole lot of impact. Entertaining is my love language, so a kitchen is such an important space to me. We love to cook up a storm and whip up cocktails for ourselves and our loved ones, so this room always tends to get a lot of action. It should be a place we love spending time in and that feels inviting to all of our guests, too.

Step one for dabifying a space is gathering inspiration and creating mood boards. A few major factors went into my current plan for the new kitchen. First was the Delta Faucet Influencer Summit where we were given an exclusive look at the HGTV Dream Home 2022, which featured spaces with bold hues and all Delta® fixtures in their kitchen and bathrooms. I always gravitate toward greens and blues in a space, so seeing many of the spaces with these accents really inspired me. Here’s a quick kitchen mockup I created on the right. I decided on a deep rich blue color that, depending on the day, can read as navy or even teal and contrasted it with Champagne Bronze™ faucets from Delta® to give the space some warmth. Champagne Bronze is my go to finish and you can never go wrong with it.

Now let’s get the party started! I did a lot of research on painting cabinets and found The Cabinet Makeover, who specializes in refinishing cabinets using industrial paint, which is more durable and dries faster, instead of enamel or acrylic. And they did an amazing job from beginning to end. Just look at the beautiful prep work. That makes me so happy!

And after the painting was done, we went in for the finishing details! The navy color we picked for the cabinets was a cool color, so I love to balance that with warm fixtures and hardware. And because this brand new kitchen needed that extra element to make it stand out, I chose Delta’s Broderick Two Handle Pull-Down Bridge Kitchen Faucet in Champagne Bronze. Design-wise, it seamlessly blends industrial and classical elements. I love the nuts and bolts which adds some character and weight to the kitchen sink. This showstopper isn’t just great to look at, it’s going to help me complete all my kitchen tasks a little better and easier! The pull-down spring spout faucet is a must (trust me, once you have one, you’ll never go back!) and concentrated stream of Delta’s ShieldSpray® Technology means you know everything is going to get sparkling clean—without water splattering all over! It’s also super easy to care for these faucets, thanks to the soft, rubber Touch-Clean® spray holes that make wiping away any calcium or lime build-up a breeze.

And the party don’t just stop there. To make the new sink area even more useful, I added a Delta Metal Glass Rinser and Traditional Beverage Faucet. The Glass Rinser gets into hard-to-reach areas with high-pressure water jets, so cleaning tall glasses or bottles will no longer be a project. This is really going to help when I’m on bartending duty! And the Beverage Faucet will give us access to purified drinking water straight from the sink. I’m saying goodbye to bulky water filters taking up space in my kitchen. It’s also incredibly easy to install (much more so than other versions on the market), so it’s an essential upgrade if you’re thinking of giving your faucet a makeover!

I recommend checking out all the options from Delta Faucet that can help make your kitchen the heart of your home. No matter if you’re personalizing a new build or looking for a simple way to update an older space that needs a little new life, you’ll be amazed at what a difference these touches can make! And there you have it! My kitchen is complete and I’m ready to have some friends over for some delicious cocktails. Happy Friday, friends!
